Jigawa to begin use of injectable polio vaccine -Official

As part of preventive measures against the spread of polio, the Jigawa state government said, it has concluded all arrangement to commence using injectable polio vaccine on 18 November 2018.
This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary state Primary Health Care Board Dr Kabir Ibrahim while receiving members of ROTARY Club in his office to mark the world polio day in the state.
Dr Kabir explained that, as Jigawa state clocked six years of polio-free, preventive measures must be taken to avoid the return of the polio virus in the state.
The executive secretary who confirmed that as of yesterday Jigawa state celebrated six years of free polio, no single cases discovered since 2012 across the 27 local government areas.
Dr Kabiru added that, the introduction of the injectable polio vaccine which is more effective, safer and last longer is part of the strategy introduce to strength polio eradication campaign in the state.
According to him, the state has conducted six round of polio vaccine exercise this year and in each round 1.6 to 1.7 million children are immunized across the twenty seven local government area of the state.
“We mobilized over 173 districts heads, each one has over 40 wards heads and area heads (Maiunguwa) for sustainable campaign against the polio various, we particularly engaged them to enlighten their people on the need to bring out their children for the injection vaccine”.
Speaking during their match along with polio victims and other public to the office the Rotary Club president Jigawa state chapter Muhammed Ibrahim Rabakay reitrate the commitment of their clubs in supporting polio eradication program.
