The Nigerian Air Force, NAF in collaboration with the British Military Advisory Team, BMAT has inducted 710 NAF personnel into training on Force Protection in Complex Air and Ground Environment Course (FP-CAGE).
The Air Officer Commanding Kaduna Training Command , AOC Air Vice Marshal AVM Idi Amina disclosed this during the induction ceremony of the personnel in Kaduna.
According to him, the training was designed to prepare and provide the personnel with requisite skills and competence needed to effectively observe their duties of securing NAF assets, for the sustainment of air operations and prevention of attacks on national infrastructure by terrorists.
He added that the training was in line with the vision of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saddique Baba Abubakar, embarked upon to aggressively develop the capabilities necessary to checkmate emergence of threat to the nation.
While inducting the personnel into the training course, he said the enormous benefit inherent in the employment of force protection assets to enhance military operations in general and unconventional warfare in particular are advantages most militaries around the world seek to garner.
According to the AOC, “global conflict over the years evolved from direct confrontation between nation states to threats posed by non-state actors in the 21st century. These non-state actors try to influence policies, achieve economic gains and secure political or strategic advantage through unconventional means such as terrorism and insurgency.
“Accordingly, militaries all over the world continue to train to effectively protect their own forces and assets as well as counter emerging threat in most effective and professional manner.”
The AOC however, charged the airmen and airwomen participating in the exercise to remain dedicated and disciplined, in order to learn from the instructors’ wealth of experience.
“I want to say the course will demand a lot from you mentally, emotionally and physically.”
