APC claims on killings mischievous, Benue PDP Says

Date:

From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

The Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) in Benue State has described as mischievous comments by the APC Publicity Secretaries that the party in the State is peddling fake news about the killings in Benue.
Conference of the APC Publicity Secretaries (CAPS), last weekend at the end of its 3rd summit in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, issued a communique, alleging that Benue State is suffering in the hands of PDP elements who commit heinous crimes against the people and pass the blame to others.
The APC publicity Secretaries also averred that it is their utmost belief that the provision of infrastructure, payment of salaries, motivation of workforce, creation of industrial base, security of Benue State was better placed in the hands of a brand new APC government in Benue State, in May 2019.
But reacting in a Press Statement made available to Peoples Daily yesterday in Makurdi, the Benue State PDP Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom said no responsible political party in control of power would stoop so low as to play politics with the lives of its people.
He added that it is shameful that the APC has abdicated its duty to safeguarding the lives and properties of its citizens and is rather busy seeking to take refuge in blaming the opposition as being perpetrators of crime.
According to him, It remained the first and most sacrosanct duty of the federal government under the control of APC to provide security for the
lives and properties of Nigerian citizens.
Bemgba stated that it is sad and tragically that the ruling party has overtime thrown the duty to the dogs, leaving helpless citizens in states like Benue at the mercy of murderous marauding Fulani herdsmen and other forms of crime and terror.
“A government that has refused to bring to book criminal groups which openly claim responsibility for crimes against humanity committed within its territorial jurisdiction, such as Miyetti Allah has been doing over the years, such a government and its sponsoring political platform, in this case APC, deserve only one response from the suffering masses who have been at the receiving end of the actions and inactions of such a failed government, and that is a resounding rejection at the 2019 elections,” he noted.
He said the APC’s idea of “change” has foisted on Nigeria the worst economic recession in its peacetime history, attended by galloping inflation, acute hunger, worsening unemployment rate, as well as dangerously heightening insecurity.
The PDP spokesman further said the APC government has brought about, unprecedented sense of national disunity propelled by a fanatical brand of nepotism.
According to him, the suffering Nigerians masses though have accepted the “change”, but as ‘change for the worse’ which cannot be consolidated upon, hence their resolve to ‘Change the life-sucking Change’ come 2019.
