Yuletide: NSCDC deploys 3,500 personnel to beef up security in Kaduna

Determined to make this year’s yuletide hitch-free in terms of security of lives and safety of property, the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kaduna State Command has deployed over 3,500 personnel across the state.
Speaking on the readiness of the Command to tackle incidences of insecurity, State Commandant, Alhaji Modu Bunu, said he has ordered the three Area Commanders, 23 Divisional Officers, Head of Departments and units to ensure adequate deployment.
As part of preparations for the yuletide and Maulu celebrations, Bunu said he held meeting with all affected officers in which operational order was critically and extensively analysed to yield required results.
He stressed that security arrangements at worship centres, markets and recreational facilities must be tightened.
The Commandant urged members of the public to cooperate with the corps by reporting incidence with tendencies to cause breach of peace.
According to him, residents should not stop at anything to destroy the present security arrangements which are necessary panacea for development.
He warned youths on the use of fireworks, stressing that anyone caught using it shall be arrested and sanctioned, noting that if allowed, criminals may take advantage of it to unleash terror.
The Commandant called on parents, guardians and religious leaders to enlighten their children, wards and subjects respectively on the dangers of indulging in illegal acts during festivities.
On the protection of children who are the most vulnerable group, the state NSCDC helmsman urged guardians to control their movements to prevent them from been exposed to antics of criminals.
On the readiness of the Command to respond to fire disasters, the Commandant cautioned residents against displaying nonchalance on the usage of fire and electricity.
Regrettably, he attributed the relative high incidence of fire disasters in the country which are avoidable to lack of precautionary measures.
While felicitating with Kaduna residents on the occasion of Christmas, New Year and Maulud in advance, Bunu pledged the commitment of the command to serve the state better.
