Four persons were reportedly burnt to death in a road accident that occurred on Benin-Lagos Expressway at Omotoso town in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State yesterday.
According to reports , the bus, with registration number MNY 406 XA, was carrying eight passengers, four of whom died while others sustained injuries.
The Toyota Hiace bus was said to be coming from Lagos and heading towards Benin, however, one of its tyres burst, causing the vehicle to summersault several times before going up in flames killing four of the travellers.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Adeleye, who confirmed the incidence to the media, said the vehicle’s tyre got damaged before it somersaulted while on motion.
According to him, “The accident was as a result of speeding. That is why we are appealing to the drivers to mind their speed while traveling, if the speed was not much, the impact of the accident would not have been much.”
He said that the victims had been taken to a hospital in Ore.
