The Kano Pillars Midfielder, Abdullahi Shehu has expressed high hopes that the Super Eagles will excel at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The former junior international that was among the three home-based players that modeled for the unveiling of the new kit designed by adidas on Thursday said he was delighted with the rare opportunity to model the national team jersey.
“The jersey is very good for [the Super Eagles]. It is also a great achievement for my career and my country. I’m happy being part of this era of Super Eagles as a home based player. Kudos to the Federal government, Nigeria Football Federation for providing us the kits,” Shehu, a two-time Nigeria Premier League winner with Kano Pillars said.
“It is not easy to make the final list for the World Cup, but I will make sure I work hard, concentrate and remain fit at giving my best to the team,” said the CHAN 2014 bronze medalist on his hopes of making the final 23-man Super Eagles’ list for Brazil.
On chances of Super Eagles recording success in Brazil, the central midfielder said that the coach Stephen Keshi side has what it takes to surpass previous records at the World Cup.
“In the current Super Eagles, we have a lot of confidence as players and Nigerians too have plenty of belief in us.
The coach has raised the team’s confidence, provided healthy competition and enshrined discipline within the team. I believe this year we will do better than previous World Cups,” Shehu said.
