NGO advocates review of policy for youth dev’t

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Generation Next Youth Initiative has called for the review of the nation’s youth policy document to further guarantee the future of youths.
The Chief Executive Officer and Lead Coordinator of the Organization, Barrister Pat Udechukwu made the call while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
According to Barrister Pat Udechukwu, the youth policy document which is expected to be review every three years was last reviewed in year two thousand and nine.
She said the youths could not be empowered without functional policy initiative.
The Lead Coordinator expressed concern over the inadequate of some Nigerian youths to have access to qualitative health, education and entrepreneurship programmes that would make them contribute to national growth and development.
She observed that any nation that desire a better tomorrow must pay adequate attention to policies that would make the youths self reliant.
Udechukwu explained that Generation Next Youth Initiative had in the last five years been embarking on sensitization campaign on youth empowerment towards building a virile and prosperous nation.
She therefore advised youths to develop keen interest on programmes that would improve their living standard and enhance their contribution to nation economic growth and development.
On the 2019 election, she advised the youths against been used by selfish politicians to achieve their unpatriotic ambition.
She called on youths to challenge those seeking political offices on the review of youth policy document and other programmes that would better their lots.
The Lead Coordinator also enjoined the youths to effectively engage in leadership position towards repositioning the country for greatness. While calling for more enabling environment for youths to realize their dreams.
She further stressed the need for them to ensure the emergence of credible leaders with youth friendly agenda in this year’s general election.
