Kano govt cancels private schools certificates, to issue new ones

Date:

From Mustapha Adamu, Kano

Kano state has cancelled all permanent and provisional certificates issued before to private schools in the state and has re-introduced a new one.

The chairman of the state’s Task Force on Private/Voluntary Schools, Alhaji Baba Umar Abubakar, stated this on Friday when he received members of the National Association Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) in his office.

Abubakar maintained that the cancellation of the certificates has become imperative because the task force had discovered that many certificates were forged.

“This prompted us to intimate the state governor to cancel all the previous certificates and re-introduce new ones. To our delight, the governor had sanctioned the idea and approved the cancellation on Wednesday”, he added.

“We would work with NAPPS to produce the new certificate and it would be issued within two weeks. I call on all the private schools to come to the task force office at Gidan Murtala to collect the certificate.

The certificate would be issued in categories A-D, based on the schools’ facilities after inspection”, he said.

He noted that the new certificate’s validation period would be for three years renewable after expiration.
