Seven killed, three injured in Bauchi auto crashes -FRSC

Seven people have been killed while three people were injured in two ghastly accidents that occurred in two different locations in Bauchi State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi Sector Command, Rilwan Suleiman, and staff officer in charge of rescue Chadi Khamis confirmed the two accidents.
Khamis said “the two accidents happened at two different locations in the state on 28th January, 2019 at about the same time, seven people died in an accident involving two vehicles at Zangoro Village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State,of the passengers died on the spot while the 7th passenger died at the hospital. Nine people were involved in the accident with the other two taken to the Abubabakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi for medical attention.”
He said the vehicles involved are “Two commercial vehicles, a Sharon car with Reg. No. DNG 244 AM and a Vectra car with Reg. No. DRZ 598 XA were involved in a ghastly motor accident at Zangoro Village in Ganjuwa LGA of Bauchi State on Monday, 28th January, 2019 at about 7.45pm”
Khamis said “The accident was caused by over-speeding and wrongful overtaking by the driver of one of the vehicles which led to a head-on collision of the two vehicles.
The staff officer said that the second accident happened close to the NNPC Mega Filing Station at Wuntin Dada in Bauchi metropolis.
He said “a J5 open van with Reg. No. BAUCHI 851 ZE which had two passengers was carrying a brand new tractor when the accident happened., the driver of the J5 who was driving out of Bauchi and overloaded tried overtaking a vehicle wrongly, “in the process, the tractor fell off from the J5, “The driver of a Peugeot 308 who was coming into Bauchi had a head-on collision with the J5 who was still on his lane after the wrongful overtaking. It happened around 7pm that same day (Monday, 28th January, 2019)”
He said that the driver of the J5 broke his leg while the other Peugeot 308 driver who was alone had no physical injury.
Khamis said that immediately the accident happened, the FRSC which was called, responded swiftly and rescued the victims to the Abubabakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for medical treatment.
