IPOB launches fresh protest, ask members to boycott polls

Members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra ( IPOB) in the early hours of Friday took to various streets in Asaba, Delta State in what appeared to be fresh protest match against the 2019 general elections for boycott
Eyewitness, Henry Azuka said the fierce looking IPOB members were clad in red black red armed with their flags, started their protest match from the Onitsha headbridge to Abraka quarters in Asaba to Nnebisi road and towards the Inter bau round about in Asaba where they allegedly removed Atiku/ Obi posters from walls, electricity polls including signboards bearing individual companies names
It was gathered that the though the protesters displayed high level of maturity and organized protesters amidst singing Igbo war songs, were closely monitored by heavily armed security operatives.
But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed that the IPOB members were on peaceful protest to newsmen in Asaba, dispelled the fear of the unknown, adding” the police will do everything possible to bring to book anyone who may wished to cause trouble during or after the elections”
DSP Andrew Aniamaka said no arrest has been made, adding that Investigation was ongoing with a view to arresting the evil perpetrators.
A tricycle operator ,Moses Davidson who spoke to newsmen in Asaba said” We ran away with our tricycle when we saw them coming, they held us Spell bound with their songs as they dance on the road, removed Atiku Abubakar/Peter Obi posters On the billboards, policemen moved into the protest as they monitored closely until they moved into two buses that were hired on the Spot
Since the IPOB protest in the early hours, Some Asaba indigenes who are members of the IPOB insisted that there will be no elections in Biafra dominated states , adding that they have ordered all their members to sit at home on the election days except their needs are met as Igbos.
Leader of the IPOB protesting members, Benjamin Ezegbune who spoke to newsmen said, “ Our protest was not to harm anyone, but to sensitize our people, I mean the IPOB members to boycott elections in the state and others, we are matured and responsible people but we will not participate in the elections, We have agreed to boycott the elections because we have no faith in Nigeria’s democracy.
