AEDC sensitizes Niger community on safety

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has carried out sensitization on safety measures for the safe use of electricity in Bosso community of Niger State where it also declared state of emergency for the protection of lives and properties in the area.
The General Manager Niger Region of AEDC, Engr Usman Makun Usman made the disclosure in an interview after meeting with the stakeholder’s sensitization at the district head residence of Bosso yesterday in Minna.
Usman emphasized that its customers should resist working with NEPA 2 while communities should take ownership of the company installations networks by informing them and security agencies of illegal operatives in their domain.
He assured of adequate better services and sympathized with the recent victims family where a pregnant woman and two children died in fire inferno in Bosso on February 11, 2019.
Usman Makun however said that the company would wait for the outcome of the independent investigation of NEMSA, Fire Service and other agency to ascertained the actual cause of the fire out break so as to know whether to compensate the victims or not depend on the findings.
He noted that the current exercise was to sensitized the community people on the safety measures to avoid future occurrence hence this need to rub minds on some of the challenges to proffer solutions.
He further warned on the citizens of desist from patronizing fake wire services for their home wiring, overloading and unprofessional engineers for the installation of their homes with electrical appliances and equipments.
The AEDC Youth Lead Nigeria Bosso, Bashir Musa Ibrahim in his remarks, commended the company for the Programme and insisted that AEDC must be able to provide a stable power supply to the state and desist from continued complaining.
He stated that the people willing be ready to pay their bills when there is power supply to them and should take responsibility of what concerned them as a company to ensure peace.
Responding, the district head of Bosso, Alhaji Muazu Adamu Lakka said that the community is not blaming AEDC for the incidence recorded thus far but the destiny of God.
Lakka however urged the company to sympathized with the deceased family in cash or kind as this will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the family, he than commended the current AEDC leadership in Niger state for his proactiveness and leadership style of open door policy.
The sensitization was attended by the traditional rulers in Bosso and its environs of Minna, community people, youths and others numerous to mentioned.
