Delta First Lady to establish sickle cell clinics in LGs

The wife of Delta State Governor,Dame Edith Okowa has taken as serious challenge sickle cell scourge In State, saying it was time to reduce the scourge.
Dame Okowa who spoke to journalists in Asaba on Tuesday, disclosed that she will establish Sickle Cell Clinic in every local government area in the State.
She commended genetic councilors , nurses and members of the Sickle cell committee in the state popularly called” Success and Survival Super Stars Children” She said,” God is telling us that we should establish Sickle cell clinic across the local government areas in the State that will be accessible to the Patients, it’s our responsibility and we will do our best as a government responsible for the people of Delta State irrespective of the Poor economy situation” Dame Okowa enjoined members of the Sickle cell committee to always give their best in whatever they find themselves doing in life, adding that the state government was committed to ensuring Sickle cell Scourge become history in the state, and called on the people to always follow up on the people living with Sickle cell as challenges in their lives, Stressing that everything will be put together for the Successes on the fight against Sickle cell in the State.
It was gathered that no fewer than six persons have allegedly died recently in the state as a result of Sickle cell, a situation Dame Edith Okowa vowed to make the scourge a history in the state
