Edo LG tasks workers on productivity

Orhiomwon Local Government Area of Edo State has tasked workers in the Council on productivity which is the main driver of economic growth and wellbeing their watchword.
The Chairman of the Council, Hon. Sylvester Okoro in his goodwill message to mark the 2019 Workers Day Celebrations, said workers are supposed to see their wages match in lockstep with productivity gains, following the upward adjustment of monthly minimum wage of the Nigerian worker from N18, 000 to N30, 000.
His advice was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Roy Osariemen, which was made available to newsmen in Benin.
Okoro, pledged that the government under his watch will fulfill her obligations to workers including prompt Council workers payment of salaries.
He revealed that the increase in their living standard will correct the troublesome reality of economic hardship.
According to the statement, “we urge workers to shun lackadaisical attitude to to duty, absenteeism and sharp practices.
“We will keep our own bargain and create workers friendly environment for optimal performance”.
He also promised to prioritize “re-training of workers by ensuring that salaries are paid as and when due.”
