Nigerian farmers have been advised to use the best seeds when planting so that they can have the best yield at harvest.
The Managing Director, AGRISEED Company Nigeria Limited, Dr Tunde Faturoti gave the advise at a pre- season training for farmers in Kaduna.
According to him, the desire of every farmer is to get good end result which is bumper harvest, unfortunately most farmers in the country are not getting it because of the kind of seeds they sow.
Dr. Faturoti whose company is the sole representative of African SEED Company at SEED-CO in Nigeria, said every farmer needs herbicides, insecticides, pesticides and fertilizer on their farms, but you find out that one may get only ten tons from an hectre of land while another could get 80 tons from the same land.
“That is why SEED-CO is bringing into the Nigerian market hybrid Maize seeds which could be in the category of Early and Medium Maturing Hybrid, “ he said.
In his remark, the Manager of Kaduna Agricultural Development Agency, KADA, Dr. Sabiu Sanni called on the trainees to use SEED-CO seeds during planting because investigation have shown that the company remains one of the best in the world.
He thanked AGRISEED Company for the training given to farmers in the state free of charge.
