A member representing Obi II at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Honourable Luka Iliya Zhekaba has appealed for security collaboration between Nasarawa and Benue states especially at border zones in order to rid the areas from criminality that is on the increase daily.
The House member who decried the high rate of armed banditry and kidnapping along the federal highway from Lafia to Makurdi daily, while in an interview with newsmen in Lafia said “This
heinous activities at the border has posed serious security threat to motorists and residents”.
According to him, “Security is a concern issue between Nasarawa and Benue border. Areas such as Yelwata, Akunza, Akeleku, and Duduguru areas are facing serious danger by the activities of these criminal elements everyday”.
He continued “I call on the security operatives from the both states to intensity efforts to make the areas a crime free zone. I appeal for military checkpoint between Yelwata village along Makurdi road. This will curtail the rate of armed banditry”.
Speaking further, the member assured his constituency of full representation as promised during his campaign promises as according to him “provision of social amenities topped my agenda in order to alleviate my electorate from sufferings”.
“I am appealing for adequate constituency projects fund. If this is done, I must intensify effort to ensure that constituency projects are provided to my people. Focus would be geared towards provision of boreholes, electricity, health care centres, feeder roads across villages and supply of farm inputs to boost agricultural produce for domestic food sufficiency and commercialization,” he said.
