A group, Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) has lamented that basic education in Kaduna State is facing serious challenges, saying many schools are operating in dilapidated structures.
The Group’s Executive Director Resource, Comrade Ibrahim Mohammed Zikirillah disclosed this during an interactive Radio Town Hall meeting on Queen 94.1 FM in Zaria yesterday.
According to him, the sector is still confronted with reality of poor infrastructure and lack of required inputs to make learning possible.
He added that these realities are visible every day in school buildings without roofs, classrooms and furniture, absence of toilets and running water thereby creating hygiene crisis.
The Group also called on Governor Nasir El-rufai to hold the contractor that built the collapsed building which killed Musa Umaru, primary four pupil in Zaria, accountable for his death.
