Rotary International Polio Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Emeka Offor, has commended stakeholders in the country for their collective fight against polio.
Offor, who is also the founder of Emeka Offor Foundation, gave this indication yesterday in Abuja, during a press conference marking “Three years without wild polio virus case in Nigeria”.
“I am delighted, humbled and encouraged that our years of fighting the menacing polio scourge has today received an added impetus as we mark three years since any child in Nigeria was paralyzed as a result of the Wild Polio Virus.
“I salute the hard work, passion and commitment of all health workers, volunteers and supporters who were driving the wheel of immunization as we sojourned through the polio pathway.
At Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, we have committed expertise, resources and time in support of this noble, worthy and humanitarian course. Our resolve is irrevocable, our determination strengthened as we look into the future to achieve the second milestone which is the certification of Nigeria and Africa as wild polio virus free.
“Also, I encourage all of us to stay focused while we rejoice. Our surveillance and vigilance profile must be raised now. Our activities of advocacy, routine immunization and field supervision must continue with alacrity as we approach the finish line.”
