Lalong’s handling of farmers-herders clash excites youths

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa state Chapter has commended Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau state for curtailing the perenial clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the state.
The Chairman of NYCN, Keffi Chapter, Alhaji Mohammad Idris, in a statement, said the security measures adopted by the Governor in resolving farmers-herders clashes had minimised killings in the state.
Idris also applauded Lalong for promoting religious tolerance and restoring peace in the state, added that Lalong inherited a state that was enmeshed in a dangerous ethno-religious quagmire.
He explained that as soon as the Governor assumed duty, he began by creating a harmonious cohabitation where peace and tranquility reigns.
According to him, Lalong is running an all-inclusive government and gave all segments of the state a sense of belonging as well as ensure that non-indigenes and the disabled were not left behind.
He said: “It was a deliberate strategy to promote trust, love and peace in the state.
“Within six months of his administration, Lalong succeeded in bringing about relative peace and unity in the State.
“The creation of the Plateau Peace Building Agency and the Peace Roadmap were landmark initiatives aimed at restoring peace to the State.”
Idris also hailed Lalong for clearing the backlog of inherited salaries of civil servants, eight months of pension to pensioners and sustained the payment of workers monthly.
“As a matter of fact, the Governor’s achievements are so many and cut across all the key sectors of the state’s economy.”
The youth leader said that Lalong had succeeded in repositioning the state in all facets of human endeavour, adding that the state was gradually reclaiming its name as ” Home of Peace and Tourism.
