Kaduna State chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, (IPAC), has commended Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i for his giant strides towards giving the state a new face lift through his urban renewal projects.
IPAC chairman in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Suleiman, stated this in a press statement made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
Alhaji Suleiman said the promise made by the Governor that all Urban Renewal Projects in the state would be completed in 18 months is a welcome Development.
According to the IPAC chairman, the Projects comprised of seven new roads, upgrading of 14 existing ones, parks, including Kaduna Centenary Park, new ultra modern markets, neighbourhood centres, shopping mall among others, will turn Kaduna into mega city.
He added that the move by Mallam Nasir El Rufai government was determined to create a new Kaduna as the present city has become congested with more than three million people.
Alhaji Suleiman however called on the Governor to extend the gestures to the health sectors by ensuring that the work resumes on abaddoned health facilities in the state as this will go a long way to address the health challenges in the state .
He assured the Governor of the support of the Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, (IPAC) in his move to transform the state for better.
It will be recalled that some of the projects inspected by the governor and his Deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe included Kaduna centenary city, School of Home Economics, 600 metres road expansion from Isa Kaita junction to Raba road and Millennium city road expected to link eastern bypass..
During the inspection, Mallam Nasir El Rufai said he is opening up of new districts that will help in expanding and decongesting Kaduna, “so that more and more people will live in the new city, with good transportation connection so that people can get to work in no time.”
“We are also working on opening up the western side in Rigasa area to Birnin Gwari, so that we will have more land available for residential, commercial as well as industrial purposes,
“This is a key urban renewal project and it is something that we will be visiting from time to time to make sure things are on course,” he added.
According to him, the government is now more confident that money will come and the project will be completed within the stipulated period.
“We don’t want to lose time, and by the grace of God in 18 month we will have a new Kaduna; new roads and less congestion and less traffic problems and more people will have plots to build their homes in the new area of Kaduna that is as good as any part of the world, and this is just the first step,” he stressed.
