Gov. Buni launches projects to create 10,000 jobs

Yobe state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has launched three important projects that is expected to generate over 10, 000 job opportunities for indigenes of the state, create wealth and improve the economy of the state in particular and the country at large.
These projects, all in Potiskum local government area of the state, includes the trailer transit park which the governor laid its foundation stone, the Yobe flour mill and the Sahel aluminum company which are all in different stages of reactivation.
According to the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Mr.Hassan Bello, the Potiskum trailer transit park has facilities that would, when completed, provide about 3000 job opportunities in the areas of fuel gas station, mechanic workshop, hotels and motels, shops, recreation centers, banking facilities, among others.
He stated the benefits of the park to include among others, improvement in road freight transportation industry in general, facilitation of trade and consequent increase in internal revenue generation by the state government, promotion of new socio-economic activities, and because Potiskum has a vibrant cattle market which is the largest in sub-Saharan Africa, a major gate to neighbouring countries of Cameron, Chad and Niger, the prospects of the park are therefore very bright.
In his address when he inspected the progress of work for the revitalization of the Yobe flour mills and Sahel aluminum roofing sheets factory, he stated that the overall aimed of the projects is to create employment opportunities for the teeming youth and other citizens of the state and to improve the internal revenue generation drive and wealth creation avenues in the state.
He pointed out that the contract for resuscitation of the flour and feed mill was awarded to Kokori multicraft at the sum of N80.4 million while that of the Sahel roofing sheets factory was awarded at the cost of N94.9 million.
