NSCDC arrests man for throwing own 4- month old baby into river

The Niger State Command of Nigeria Service Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a 20 years old man Mustapha Aliyu for throwing his four months old boy into River Uti in Borgu local government of Niger State.
The State Commandant George U. Edem made the disclosure while parading the suspect yesterday in Minna the state capital, noting that the corpse is yet to be found.
Edem said that following a tip off on 7th September, 2019, his men apprehended the suspect, an indigene of Kebbi State who resides in Tamaniya Village near Kainji in Borgu Local Government Area of the state.
He stated that the suspect an Okada rider has confessed to have committed the offence and pleaded guilty hence he is to be handed over to the police for prosecution.
Commandant Edem, however, advised parents to take good care of their children, monitor their wards and advised them to avoid committing such kind of offense like homicide.
The suspect, Mustapha Aliyu in an interview said it was his son but not officially married to the girl, although he intended to marry her before the unfortunate incident.
He attributed the crime to lack of acceptance of the child by his mother, adding that it was a devil handwork and pleaded guilty.
