A Socio-political group, Change Advocate of Nigeria, (CAN) has rejected unlawful utterances against Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki ahead of the next year’s Governorship poll in the State.
It also faulted the hard-line posture of Edo Peoples Movement for sponsoring a campaign of calumny against Governor Obaseki and alleged rejection of his second term bid by aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress in the State.
The National Coordinator, Comrade Osareniye Ikponmwonba and Secretary, Comrade Valentine Ogedegbe said this in a joint statement yesterday in Benin City where it urged EPM members not to fractionalize the party.
It also dismissed insinuations that governor Godwin Obaseki has abandoned ongoing projects inherited from past administration and expressed confidence on the performance of Governor Obaseki in delivering the dividend of democracy to the electorate
Part of the Statement reads: “We are all witnesses to the mandate giving to Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki by the same party (APC) and the general Edo People as indeed, raised the bar of good governance and development of the state from November 2016 till date in the area of Educational Reforms, infrastructure, Agriculture, Administration and Investment”
It would be recalled that, a parralel group and aggrieved members of the ruling Party in the state,
“The watchward for the party in Edo State at this time should be to Unite, Lobby, and canvass within itself ahead of the Governorship Election.
“The campaign of Calumny and hatred being sponsored against performing APC governor which has become the habits of acclaimed Edo Peoples Movement is Unacceptable is unacceptable”, the statement said.
