ICPC, DAG train youths on whistle blowing in Jigawa

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) in collaboration with Disputes Resolution and Development Initiative formerly known as DAG has trained youths on how to apply tactics of whistle blowing in Jigawa State.
The one day town hall meeting which was held at Dutse Royal Hotel comprised journalists and leaders of various youths organisations operating in the state.
Speaking at the training, the Executive Director of Democratic Action Group (DAG), Dr Muhammad Mustapha said, the objectives of the meetings is to create grassroots awareness on corruption and expose the ills of corrupt practices and get citizens involve in fight against corruption.
According to him, the meeting will also help the participants to understand the various channels of reporting corruption and corrupt practices.
He said, the formation of State Anti-Corruption Network (JIGNETWORK) will help the anti-corruption agencies in tracing the corrupt people in the state.
Dr Muhammad Mustapha who decried that corruption had become endemic across the Nigerian societies said “we are all engaging in one form of corrupt act or another, in schools, hospitals, and on the road”.
While making his presentation at the meeting, the ICPC representative Malam Ibrahim Bello, urged the participants to join hands with the government’s anti-corruption and security agencies working in Jigawa state, in order to stamp out corruption from the state.
”Until people stop seeing the fight against corruption as a business of the government alone by actively participating in the campaign against corruption then the societies will develop,” Bello said.
