Acting Surveyor General of the Federation, Surveyor Taiwo S. Adeniran has implored members of the management and staff of the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGoF) to abreast themselves with the public service rules, especially the financial regulations and extant laws to ensure conscientiousness and integrity of service.
In a press statement released in Abuja yesterday and signed by the OSGoF Head of press and Public Relations, Mr. Abu I. Michael, it noted that Surveyor Adeniran who implored the officials at a one-day retreat for the newly appointed and promoted officials into and in the directorate level at OSGoF in Abuja said the retreat was necessary to set the tone especially for the new ones who just progressed into the management cadre.
He said Government job was not done by whims and caprices but by rules and regulations that the workers must acquit themselves with to perform their duties adding that the new Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors and Directors would soon be posted to higher responsibilities and therefore need to brace up.
The mandates of OSGoF according to him require the provision of requisite Geo-spatial information that are timely and very useful for the Nigerian Government that would impact development positively.
For OSGoF to achieve its objectives, Surveyor Adeniran urged for good relationship among and between the management and other staff so as to evolve the team spirit needed.
Various resource persons from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and OSGoF were drafted to present papers on the structure/functions of OSGoF, public service rules, procurement process, and financial regulations.
Adeniran warned that the official duties should not be treated with levity hence they were meant to serve the good people of Nigeria pointing out that the system seemed to lag but it do grind slowly and well for those who violate the rules of the system.
