A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Comrade Godwin Erhahon has urged Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to lift suspension of Egor Local Government Chairman, Eghe Ogbemudia.
Erhahon, former State Publicity Secretary of APC made the appeal in a statement on Tuesday in Benin City, citing alleged failure of Benin leaders of thought “to speak out in defense of the victimized daughter of our legend”, late Brig-General Samuel Ogbemudia who was a former Governor of the defunct Bendel State.
Recall that Governor Obaseki had on October 11, 2019 slammed Eghe Ogbemudia with suspension from office over alleged financial impropriety, weeks after three other democratically elected Council Chairmen in the State were suspended for similar reasons.
Erhahon, former State Chairman of defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of his party prevail to prevail on the State Governor to rescind the decision.
He alleged that “Ogbemudia, like her three other colleagues, was suspended on cooked up charges simply because she refused to be used against the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, insisting that her upbringing does not allow her to summit to such vicious plot”.
According to the statement titled “Help Save Eghe Ogbemudia” that “I am compelled to appeal to the highest authorities in the Country because our Benin leaders have failed to speak out in defense of the victimized daughter of our legend.
“Besides, this case is a bad precedence of emerging leaders ridiculing our heroes as a ploy to prove superiority over past leaders, dead or alive” he said.
Our Correspondent reports that 7th State House of Assembly headed by Frank Okiye, is yet to ratify her suspension and two others, excluding Etsako West Local Government Council Chairman, Yakubu Musa whose suspension had been ratified by the Assembly.
