Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has announced the conclusion of arrangements to airlift 50 out of the 200 students sponsored to study abroad being 1st batch to Sudan tomorrow (Tuesday).
Matawalle, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in his farewell address to the 200 sponsored students, warned the departing students to be good ambassadors of the state and the nation during their stay in their hosting countries.
“This is the first time in the history that, Zamfara State government under my leadership has sponsored 200 indigenous students to study abroad at the cost 438 million naira which will be witnessed annually during my stay as the state Governor.
“You are selected from across the 14 local government areas of the state base on merit, and there was nothing like politics in the criteria used that guided the selection process, you will study 12 courses amongst which were medicine and para-medical, engineering and other sciences courses.”
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Scholarship and Students Matters, Luqman Bisalla Majidadi, assured that the selection process followed due process and not based on family wealthy background.
