Vice Chancellor (VC) of Bingham University Karu, Prof William Qurix has urged media practitioners in Nigeria to imbibe in the practice of developmental journalism in order to promote activities of institutions and the country at large.
The VC made the call yesterday at the institution in Karu Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State while playing host to Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council.
Prof William Qurix maintained that media practitioners are development partners in the area of projecting image of institution and the country as well as promised to work in synergy with the NUJ chapel in the state.
According to him, “Since I was made the VC of this university. I am highly impressed with media reports on the activities of the institution. That is a good omen for the institution.”
He noted that all over the world the press are great development partners to all institutions and expressed desire for such partnership to project the university to the world.
Earlier, Mr Isaac Upkoju, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, said that the visit was to familiarise with the management of the university.
Upkoju added that the chapel would continue to serve as a link between the university and the public.
