Algerian forward, Riyad Mahrez has congratulated Senegalese attacker, Sadio Mane on his emergence as the Africa Footballer of the Year 2019.
Mahrez in a tweet on Wednesday apologise for not honouring the the 2019 CAF Award in Egyp due to club engagement.
Mahrez who led Algeria to win the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt last year said he had to stay back in order to start the year on positives with goal.
Mahrez scored on Tuesday, same day the CAF Awards held, in Machester City’s 3-1 win over rivals, Manchester United in the first leg semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
“Congratulations to Sadio for his trophy well deserved and sorry I couldn’t come but I had to start scoring for the 2020 trophy. See you next year said inch’Allah” he said
