FG assures patients of improved service delivery

The Federal Government is poised to bridge gaps in health care delivery systems, where patients will enjoy citizens centred service delivery in all our Federal Medical Centres in Nigeria.
The National Coordinator / CEO SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli stated this when she presented Compliance Evaluation Reports of Fourteen(14) Federal Medical Centres to the Minister of Health Dr Osagie Ehanire, represented by the Permanent Secretary Mr Abdulaziz MashiAbdullahi yesterday in Abuja.
Mrs Akajemeli, while presenting the scorecard said that government has strengthened the SERVICOM Presidency to support MDAs in developing and implementing Service Charters and to evaluate the performance of these MDAs and report such evaluations back to the government for onward review and delivery of efficient services inthe centres.
A statement by Henrietta Okokon (Mrs), Public Awareness Manager (SERVICOM) yesterday said that, the National Coordinator stated that the survey report was carried out in fourteen (14) Federal Medical Centres in Nigeria namely FMC Asaba, FMC Makurdi, FMC Azare, FMC BirninKebbi, FMC Owerri, FMC, Owo, FMC Ebute=Mtta, FMI Yenagoa, others are FMCNguru, FMC Ido-EKITI, FMC Gusau, fmc Abeokuta and FMC Umuahia.
Mrs Nnenna further said that the overall objective of theSERVICOM Compliance Evaluation is to ensure citizens focused Service Delivery and to identify gaps in service delivery.
“We are ensuring that recommendations are made to MDAs to improve customer satisfaction and accountability in services rendered, adding that the evidence of this report was gathered at the service windows and evaluated through customer interviews, discussions, with management, staff, partners, desk research and general observations,” she said.
The National Coordinator in her presentation emphasized that the SERVICOM Index ( SI) consist of five (5) drivers namely service delivery, timeliness, information, professionalism and Staff attitude to work.
She further recommended that, management of these medical centres should endeavour to give the wards a facelift, adding that providing adequate health care to patients will help toenhance citizens -centred service delivery and also make the hospitals morecomfortable and habitable for all patients.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Mr.Abdulaziz Abdullahi, in his remarks commended SERVICOM for their efforts so far made, further stating that the survey reports presented by SERVICOM serves as a wakeup call to our medical centres,
He added that the Compliance Evaluation Report presented to the Ministry, is a service delivery mechanism to monitor and checkmate service standards in our hospitals which when reviewed will conform to world best practices in Nigeria.
