Man docked over failure to settle debt

One Aliyu Oshe, of Karshi Satellite town, Abuja, has appeared in a Grade 1 Area court, Karu, for allegedly refusing to pay N15, 000, being cost of drugs he collected.

Oshe collected the drugs from a pharmacy, Noble Medicine Store.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr. Silas Nanpan, told the court that, one Uchenna Sylvester, of Noble Medicine Store, Karshi, reported the issue to Karshi police station on March 20.

Nanpan told the court that the accused came to the pharmacy sometimes in February with a hospital drugs’ prescription paper.

He said the accused collected the drugs on credit and promised to pay by the end of February.

He said the accused, however, failed to fulfill his promise.

The prosecutor said the action contravened Section 312 of the Penal code.

The accused, however, denied the allegation.

The Presiding Officer, Hassan Ishaq, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety.

Ishaq said the surety must be a civil servant on Grade Level 06, and resides within the court’s jurisdiction.

He said the surety must also deposit his National Identity Card with the court’s registrar and adjourned the case until April 7 for hearing proper. (NAN)
