APC, assembly of aggrieved politicians who can’t lead Nigeria- Sule Lamido

Date:

From Ahmed Abubakar, Dutse

The Governor of Jigawa, Alhaji Sule Lamido has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as an assembly of angry politicians that came together to form a platform with a hope of governing Nigeria.

The governor who stated this over the weekend while receiving members of Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) who paid him a courtesy visit, said the APC has no particular history rather than that of reason with which it was formed.

Lamido said Nigerians cannot take the risk of handing power to a group of aggrieved politicians that have left their former political parties simply because they were denied tickets to contest.

He said, “A lot of them in APC making noise today could not do such in 1998 for fear of incarceration, but we stood against Abacha and formed the PDP which restored hope of Nigerians who are also using the avenue to abuse us as thieves, rogues and evil”.

Lamido said, “Even though the PDP’s choice of zoning of the presidency is wrong, we applied democracy according to the need of the country, it is supposed to address your own peculiar needs”, he said.

“The choice of Obasanjo though he was in prison became necessary in order to appease the Yorubas who were angry over the annulment of Chief Abiola’s election by Babangida, and at that time the people from the north were viewed with contempt and disdain because of the past military leaderships”.

Lamido explained further that, “the PDP of today can thrive without any personality within the party of which is not the same in other political parties that were anchored around somebody’s fame or popularity”, stressing that “Nigeria as the largest assembly of Blacks cannot be governed by fame”.

He then charged the members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors to begin to raise questions on issues and not to subject themselves to mere whipping boys of politicians.

Earlier, the leader of the Guild and Deputy President, Hajiya Aishatu Sule told the Governor that they were in the state for the second time for their standing committee meeting that meets quarterly on standing issues that affects the country.
