Gwandu Emir solicits support for education programme

The Emir of Gwandu and Chairman Kebbi State Traditional Rulers Alhaji Muhammadu Ilyasu Bashar has called on the stakeholders and the entire people of the state to collaborate with the committee on Basic Education Delivery For All (BESDA) scheme to ensure the successful implementation of the programme in the State.
He made this called yesterday when he received the committee members headed by the Hon. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in his palace Birnin Kebbi adding that the programme if fully implemented it will bring sanity to the Quran schools and reduce the streets begging.
His Royal Father who expressed delighted over the identification of the challenges hindering the acquisition of education by young children adding that if the programme was designed well the way it was proposed it will promote the development in the education sector.
The emir who also urged the stakeholders to involved new means of ensuring that school aged children are been enrolled into school.
“am worried over the rising number of children begging on the streets in the name of seeking for Islamic Knowledge” he added.
He then assured his commitment to the success of the scheme, saying that responsibility should not left to the Government alone, “everyone as to wake up and support the Government programs and policy most especially the benefited schools of the programme” he added.
Responding, the Hon. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Muhammadu Magawata Aliero told the emir that there are over 8000 out of school children in the state while called for the support of the traditional rulers in order to address the menace.
