Delta govt. to investigate fire incidence at water project

Delta state Government on Monday announced measures to ascertain the root cause of the fire outbreak that razed a multi-million naira water scheme project in Warri/ Effurun few days ago.
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu who spoke to Journalists in Asaba, said that the state government would leave no stone unturned to ensure the cause of the fire outbreak is ascertained, adding that the water scheme project started 28 years ago with huge sums of money pumped into the project for the purposes of providing water for the People of the area.
Noting that the fire outbreak was a major setback to one of the state government projects, Aniagwu said that investigation was ongoing with a view to bringing those responsible for the inferno to law, adding that the state government action was informed by the nefarious activities of those who may have allegedly set the water project ablaze..
It was gathered that the fire outbreak that razed the multi million naira water Scheme Project in Warri/Effurun by Airport road in Warri South West and Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state, was allegedly caused by some Hausa labourers who were hired to clear the overgrown weeds within the Premises which also housed the popular College Of Education, Edjeba, Warri of the fateful day
The labourers were said to have left the scene when the fire outbreak spreads to the section housing the multi million naira water scheme project for their dear lives before some spirited individuals attempted to put out the inferno but no avail
The state Commissioner for Water Resources, Barr Martin Okonta who also spoke to Journalists in Asaba, said that the project currently undergoing 28 years old, is being handled by the government in partnership with the World Bank, adding that the state government would do everything possible to know how the fire outbreak razed the project.
