Robbers Kill Vigilante Official In Benue

Armed robbers yesterday night shot dead one Mzambatiav Ikyagba, a vigilante official at Akpehe settlement in Makurdi, the state Capital.
The incident took place at about 10.30 pm.
Peoples Daily gathered that the gunmen were robbing a shop and on sighting the vigilante official coming behind them, turn and shot him down.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Catherine Anene told newsmen in Makurdi that the victim was killed by the robbers during their operation at a provision shop at Akpehe.
Anene further said that the Command has commenced investigation into the incident and urged the public to assist the Force with any useful information that could lead to their arrest.
She said the Command was determined to curb the state of any act of criminality.
However, a resident at Akpehe who pleaded anonymity said on phone that the late vigilante official acted unprofessionally when he came across the armed robbers during their operation
