The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the son of deceased member representing Garki/Babura Federal constituency, Alhaji Musa Muhammad Fagen Gawo, as winner of the bye-election conducted last saturday.
The result was announced by the returning officer, Professor Ahmad Shehu Kutama, at the Collation centre in Babura local government area of Jigawa state.
He declared that, Musa Muhammad Adamu of All Progressive Congress (APC) scored the total of 48,318 votes, while Alhaji Nasir Garba Dantiye of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 24,135 votes followed by Bashir Umar of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) who scored 458 votes.
He said, Muhammad Fagen Gawo of APC defeated Nasir Garba Dantiye of PDP who scored 24,135 votes and Bashir Umar of ADP, who scored 458 votes in the conducted bye-election.
“Therefore Musa Muhammad Fagen Gawo of All Progressive Congress (APC) having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the high votes is here by declared as winner of the election conducted on 14th March, 2020 in Garki/Babura federal constituency” Kutama said.
It could be recalled that the deceased member and a father to the winner, Alhaji Muhammad Fagen Gawo, died three months ago after suffering from illness.
