FUDMA free of coronavirus, says VC

The management of the Federal University Dutsinma, katsina State has urged the host community, parents and guardians to disregard the fake news spreading on the social media on the suspected case of COVID-19 linked to one of the staff of the institution.
Dr Babangida Umar Dangani, the acting Vice Chancellor of the university gave the advice weekend while addressing newsmen on the unfortunate negative report on the issue.
Dangani blamed the social media and other media outfits for the dissemination of distorted and baseless comments aimed at causing panic on government and the general public.
According to him, all the news and comments circulated were distorted information aimed at tarnishing the good image of the university.
Giving a brief summary, the VC said on 17th March, 2020, the university management received a report from its clinic that, a lecturer reported himself complaining of having cholera, malaria and general body weakness and needed to know his state of health.
“After diagnosis, he was discovered to have some symptoms that warrant further investigation. On account of this, the university’s director health services reported the case to the katsina State Epediomological unit to handle the suspected patient.”
He however maintained that, the relevant unit in the state health ministry took the samples of the patient with a view to ascertain his proper state of health.
“We received today a report from the state ministry of health that, the result of suspected victim of COVID-19 is proved to be negative”, he affirmed.

While expressing appreciation on efforts of the state ministry of health and National Centre for Disease Control for being proactive in giving out the result, the VC commended the staff of the university clinic for their vigilance, prompt and effective handling of the suspect.
