Covid-19: Lawmaker asks constituents to key into FG measures

A member House of Representatives, Hon. Sam Onuigbo, has asked constituents and Nigerians to key into all precautionary measures outlined by the government and health professionals to prevent the world ravaging corona virus in the locality.
Recall that the House of Representatives last week Tuesday adjourned plenary over the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country to enable the lawmakers educate their constituents on how to handle the virus.
The lawmaker who charges the members of his constituents while distributing some personal hygiene aids and personal protective kits to health workers, and the people of his areas stressed the need for people to take the issue seriously.
He disclosed that he has further made provisions for his people in Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency to be properly educated on how to combat the pandemic.
Onuigbo who challenged his constituents and Nigerians to follow measures outlined by the government and health professionals said the pandemic has claimed lots of lives and generally ground economic and social activities to a halt.
Onuigbo noted that the gesture will assist the beneficiaries which include the health workers, the media and the populace to protect themselves against virus.
He also commended the Federal government for the proactive steps taken so far in combating the spread of the virus.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries the Chief Medical Director Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi lauded Onuigbo for his thoughtfulness and prompt intervention
He said, the move by the Lawmaker will go a long way to assist the people in this critical time in the life of the entire world and urged others in the society to emulate him.
Also speaking, the Director General, Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, Anyaso Anyaso described the gesture as unique one especially with the inclusion of Journalists and media practitioners who are always on duty to cover and inform the public of events on the issue as they unfold.
He assured that the media will continue to discharge its duties in ensuring that the country and the world overcome the current challenge of Coronavirus.
