Coronavirus: Ex lawmaker seeks subsidy on rice

Former House of Representatives Member, Dr. Hussain Kangiwa has called on all Nigeria Rice Millers to consider the present situation of Coronavirus pandemic and subsidize the price of rice.
He made this call on Sunday while addressing journalists in his country home, Birnin Kebbi. He said that the price of rice has gone high as people consume rice than other food items.
Dr. Hussein who was a House committee chairman on Inter Governmental Affairs lamented over the economic situation of the country, and urged people to support the Federal Government on economic diversification.
“you see as the Federal Government gave directives of the closeness of the all borders and also stopping of the rice importation, their is need for the Nigeria Rice Miller’s to bring down their prices of Rice in order for people to afford it” he added.
Hussain also admonished people to support the government on directives of stay at home for this pandemic as is the best solution to fight the menace and ensured safety of lives.
“I want government to empowered youth more and give them sense of belonging, youth need to be supported in order for them not be a political nuisance in the society,” he said.
