Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has disclosed that government will from 7:00 am on Tuesday, lockdown the state capital due to the discovery of two new cases in the state.
It would be recalled that Daura and Dutsin-ma were on lockdown due to the discovery of COVID-19 cases in these areas
Masari who announced the mweasure while addressing newsmen yesterday in Katsina said the lockdown has become necessary due to the discovery of the two new cases in the state capital.
He warned that those leaving outside the state capital should stay in their places of residence as according to him, nobody would be allowed into the state capital.
He added that banks would be allowed to operate so as to allow people to make withdrawals and buy enough foodstuff.
Masari added that government would from today begin the payment of salaries to civil servants to cushion any hardship they may face during the lockdown.
The governor called on states neighbouring Katsina to enforce full restriction of movements in their areas, adding that this is the only way to check carriers of the disease.
He noted that for now, the lockdown would last for two weeks after which it would be reviewed if the situation improved.
Masari urged traditional leaders to prevent people from coming into their domains so as to check for any carrier that may sneak in.
