COVID-19 palliative: Mega retail store donates food, protective items to FCTA

An Abuja based mega retail chain stores, the Next Cash and Carry Stores, yesterday donated food and health protective items to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), to help boost its palliative scheme for the residents during the coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
In particular, 500 cartons of noodles, 1,000 loaves of bread, 300 bags of 10kg rice, 125 cartons of soap, some cartons of bottled water, ginger drinks as well as hand sanitisers, face masks and hand gloves were donated to assist in cushioning the effect of the prevailing COVID-19 restrictions order in the FCT.
Donating the items to the administration in Abuja, the chairman/chief executive officer of the company, Ndube Obi, reiterated that the gesture was meant to support the administration in its efforts to provide palliatives to the vulnerable persons in the Territory.
Represented by a top management staff of the company, Mrs. Agatha Okechukwu, Obi added that the donation is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as responsible citizens of the Nigeria.
According to him: “We are here to support the FCT Administration in its effort at providing palliative measures to the needy in the territory and in the country in general.
“We are doing this because as responsible citizens, Next Cash and Carry feels that this is part of its social responsibility (CSR) to support the administration at this time.”
Receiving the items, on behalf of the FCT administration, Minister of state for the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, commended the company for the gesture, just as she promised to distribute the items to those that need them most.
Aliyu also called on other corporate organizations in the Territory to emulate the gesture, in fulfilling part their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the society.
