From: Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Benue State Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Elder Jerome Torshimbe, has said that though he is a regular guest at he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), at no time was he detained at the Commission.
Elder Torshimbe told newsmen yesterday at his office during an interaction that there are several petitions involving staff of the Bureau as well as local government chairmen in the State over financial issues.
He debunked claims that he was interrogated by the anti-graft Commission over misappropriation of funds of Local Governments.
“No such thing ever happened. I go in and out of the EFCC because if anything affects a staff of the Bureau, such matter is brought to my attention. There are several cases involving local Council chairmen. There was even a petition against the Vandeikya Chairman by a Staff of the Council to EFCC.
“I am usually the person to clarify facts. This is mischief as far as am concerned. I do not have any issue with the EFCC. They will continue to do their job and we will do ours”, he stated.
The Adviser lamented over dwindling resources, noting that the percentage which accrues to the Bureau for welfare of staff is no more available.
