Educationist Lauds Television Education Programme

Mrs Dunni Samuel, a retired teacher, has commended the television education programme initiated for pupils as schools remain shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Samuel said that the programme had helped children continue to learn despite school closure.
The educationist said that the pupils always look forward to it.
Samuel, however, urged the government and philanthropists to extend the programme to rural communities by providing a viewing centre for the children pending the reopening of schools.
“The television programme for children is one I commend everyday. My grandchildren look forward to it everyday.
“It keeps them busy, you no longer have to shout 24 hours a day, they exhibit classroom attention in front of the television.
“The only thing I would like for the government to do is consider those children in the rural communities, those who do not have access to electricity.
“They are lagging behind now, some of them can view it, but they do not have educated parents to explain further for them.
“I would like well meaning Nigerians and government at all levels to provide a viewing centre for such communities.
“They should not be cut off because they are less privileged, they must also be carried along with this educational change,” she said.
