Court remands man for allegedly raping 15-years old girl in Benue

A Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court yesterday remanded a 35-year-old man, Apaa Gbafan for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl, Lember Tertsea of Kete Street, Gboko,Benue State.
The trial Magistrate, Mrs Rose Iorshe, said the defendant who lives at Kete Street in Gboko, Benue State be remanded at the Police detention facility in Makurdi.
Earlier, the Police Prosecuting Officer, Veronica Shaager, told the court that on June 2, 2020 at about 21:00 hours, Mr Apaa, who is of the same address with the victim, alongside his landlord broke and entered the house of the victim and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
She said during Police investigation, the said Apaa was arrested for committing the crime which contravenes section 284 of the penal code law of Benue State 2004.
No plea was taken for want of jurisdiction and the case was adjourned to July 6, 2020 for further mention.
