The Kano state Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Garba Ahmadu yesterday said the command has arrested 100 drug traffickers and users in two months.
Ahmadu, who was speaking over the weekend in Kano attributed the success to the effort of the state governor, Engr. Rabi’u Musa
Kwankwaso who he said has been supportive to NDLEA in terms of provision of logistics, vehicles and other equipment needed to fight drug abuse and trafficking.
According to him, between January and February this year, the agency in Kano arrested 100 drug traffickers and users, convicted 28 and counseled 28.
He further revealed that 430.858kgs of illicit drugs were seized by the agency in January, while in February, 429.383kgs of dangerous drugs were also impounded.
“On this note, we urge traditional rulers, religious leaders and parents to help NDLEA and Kano state government in this concerted war against drug trafficking and abuse in the state, because when this is done, the society will be better and our youths will become more productive and focused in whatever goal they set out to achieve in life,” he stated.
