NSCDC deploys 3,000 personnel for Eid-el-Kabir celebrations

The FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have disclosed the deployment of 3,000 personnel to nooks and crannies of Abuja, to ensure that the Muslim fateful observe this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in a peaceful and safe atmosphere.
Making this disclosure yesterday, Commandant, FCT Command of the Corps, Patrick Ukpan, said the personnel were drawn from all the units of the Command, to beef up security throughout the festivities, in the nation’s capital.
Ukpan noted that the NSCDC is carrying out such proactive measures in collaboration with other sister agencies, to ensure that criminal elements don’t have the freedom to operate during the holidays.
According to him, “the 3,000 NSCDC personnel will be deployed to various places within the FCT, and like we know that the recreational centres have been shut, so we don’t expect people to go and be gathering any entertainment centre.
“But the personnel deployed will be on ground to conduct motorized and foot patrols, and some placed at strategic locations in the Territory, so that they would be visible, so as to enable residents go about their lawful activities during the period.
“So we want to assure FCT residents that they should go about their lawful activities without fear. And we shall abide by the pronounced COVID-19 guidelines and directives, because the pandemic is real.
“ And I want to advise as well that residents should be careful, as regards to the established COVID-19 safety protocol, to avoid unnecessary movement during the period.”
Furthermore, the FCT-NSCDC boss, who disclosed that the operational order is out, charged personnel to be vigilant and courteous in the performance of their duty.
