Covid 19: Niger NGO donate items worth $5,000 to 50 physically challenged persons

International Centre for Reproductive Sexual Rights (INCRESE) a feminist Non Governmental Organization in partnership with a Spanish Organization (Mundo Cooperante) has distributed Covid 19 palliatives consisting of various items worth 5,000 US dollars to 50 persons with disabilities in Niger state.
The INCRESE Executive Director, Cesnabmihilo Dorothy Nuhu yesterday during the sensitization on Covid 19, presentation and distribution of palliatives to adolescents with disabilities in Minna, saying that it was aimed at cushion the impact of Covid -19 on this vulnerable groups from different associations.
She explained that the beneficiaries consisted of 30% male and 70% females all between the ages of 10 years to 19 years from leprosy, blind, spinal cord and other disability organizations in three local governments of Chanchaga, Bosso and Shiroro.
Mrs Nuhu noted that each of the beneficiaries were identified through screening however, want home with a package of goods worth N25,000 which include; 10kg rice, two liters of red oil, half cartons of peak milk, Milo and Indomie, sanitizer, 3 face masks, two packs of salt, soaps and other required domestic items.
The Executive Director stressed on the need to sensitized the people with adequate and relevant information on the preventive measures so as to prevent themselves from coronavirus (Covid -19) as well educate them on the diversitating consequences of the pandemic.
She advised them to always obey the precautionary measures put in place by the governments and medical profession to curb the spread of the disease like regular hand washing, use of face mask, social distancing and avoid social gathering.
She however accused Nigerian governments at all levels for not doing enough for the Covid -19 pandemic but a lip service to the citizens including palliatives distribution but applauded the clerics for their efforts in enlightenment of the people.
According to her, “INCRESE is non for advocating for sexual reproductive and health who works in partnership with other organizations within and outside Niger state in providing legal services, promote agenda equity, sexual violence prevention and many more”.
