Napoli coach, Gennaro Gattuso has described new striker Victor Osimhen as a serious guy who joined the club on merit and can offer more than has been seen.
Osimhen joined the Serie A giant in July this year and made his debut for the Naples from the bench on Saturday as the 2020/2021 Serie A season got underway.
The former Lille of France striker made a winning start in his Serie A debut coming off the bench in Napoli’s 2-0 win at Parma Calcio on Sunday.
Osimhen was introduced in the 62nd minute for Diego Demme and shone like a million stars with penetration and passes that split the Parma defence.
The Super Eagles striker almost marked his debut with a goal on 80 minutes but saw his effort go just off target.
Dries Mertens opened scoring for Napoli in the 64th minute before Lorenzo Insigne doubled the lead on 77 minutes.
The win puts Napoli top in the league table ahead of Fiorentina on goals difference.
Speaking at post-match conference, Gattuso said that the 2017 U-17 World Cup winner has a lot to offer
“@victorosimhen9 is a serious guy, who’s got here on his own merit. He’s better than what he’s shown on the pitch up until now,” he said.
