Malaria: Adamawa govt partners NMEP, others to distribute 2.8m treated mosquito nets

The Adamawa state government in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Health and other partners have announced 14th to 28th October,2020 as tentative dates for distribution of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) against the malaria disease across the state.
Commissioner of Health, Professor Abdullahi Isah made the announcement in Yola, Monday, at a media parley, stressing that the fight against the elimination of malaria disease can never be over emphasised due the destruction it is causing humanity.
Represented by the Director Public Health of the Ministry, Mr.Isaac Kadala, Professor Isah stated that the government with support from its partners would be distributing 2,888,912 insecticide treated nets to residents through door to door strategy in the state.
Kadala stressed at the parley that the essence of the meeting was as part of the ministry’s mass campaign on the scheduled distribution of the treated mosquito nets so that the awareness can reach targeted audience before hand.
Kadala explained that the approach for this Year’s distribution is for one net for two (2) members of a household, noting that residents are to sleep inside the net for protection against mosquito bites that causes malaria.
“The objective of the ITN mass campaign is to ensure that for every two persons in a household in Adamawa state 1 mosquito net available to sleep inside and be protected from mosquitoes that spread malaria.
“Household registration and simultaneous distribution of ITNs will commence from 15th to 28th October.
