Military will continue to ensure non kinetic activities in Nigerians, CDS

Nigeria Military said it will continue to engage in non kinetic activities as part of its mandate to uplift and better the lives of Nigerians.
This is just as the Military spike Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS and vowed to always be involved in intelligence driven Operation to weed out criminal elements in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States.
The Chief of Defense Staff, CDS,General Gabriel Olonisakin and Force Commander, OPWS Maj. Gen Adeyemi Yekini stated this yesterday while commissioning five hand-pump boreholes in five communities of Nasarawa State sited by the Department of Civil-Military Cooperation.
Our correspondent who was on the trip reports that two(2) of the boreholes are sited at Agyaragu and Gidinye communities in Obi Local Government Area, while one was sunk at Agudu in Lafia local government area and others located in Kadarko and Giza communities in Keana LGA of the state.
Speaking during the commissioning, the CDS, General Gabriel Olonisakin stated that the Nigerian Military is mandated under the law to assist civilians with amenities whenever they are needed.
He maintained that projects are sited at the various points to address the water needs of the benefiting communities in addition to the security been provided in the areas.
The CDS who was represented by Real Admiral Obed Ngalabak further explained that the CDS called on the people to guard, protect and maintain the facilities so as to attract more of similar social amenities in their areas.
“As part of our civil military operations we have also, built dispensaries, worship centers and renovated schools across the country and we have the mandate by law to aid civilians with amenities whenever they are needed”, Ngalabak.
On his part, Force Commander, OPWS Maj. Gen Adeyemi Yekini intimated that they had constructed 10 boreholes in Benue, 5 in Taraba and now 5 in Nasarawa State,explaining that the military usually carry out detailed analysis of the people need before embarking on any project.
He added that the essence of embarking on non kinetic activities is to solidify the relationship between the military and the communities, saying it is a way to incorporate them so to get important information from the people about criminal elements.
He said his troops is adequately ready to decimate all criminal elements and warned kidnappers and other criminal elements operating in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States to come out and surrender or be apprehended.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule lauded the CDS for providing life- saving water projects in some communities in the state.
