#EndSARS: FCT Police reads riot act against looting spree

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Bala Ciroma, has read a riot act to persons engaged in all forms of criminality especially the wanton looting and vandalisation of property within the Territory.
Ciroma while briefing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, particularly warned that FCT Command will not condone any act capable of undermining the safety of lives and property of FCT residents.
He disclosed that in a bid to ensure the protection of lives and property within the Territory, the command arrested fifty-one (51) suspected looters and made recoveries of some looted items at Jabi-Dakibiyu, Idu Industrial Estate and Karmo axis, following the wanton looting cum vandalisation of public and private warehouses by some hoodlums.
Recall that in the aftermath of the controversial #EndSARS protests that rocked FCT and other parts of the Country have continued witnessed different dimensions of reactions, which have resulted to loss of lives, wanton destruction and looting of property.
Also, the largest warehouse in Gwagwalada Area Council owned by the FCT Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) was also raided in the early hours of yesterday.
Parading the 51 suspects, the FCT commissioner of Police listed the items recovered to include 52 bags of 5 kg rice, 2 bags of 50kg rice, 4 cartons of soap, 1 sack of tomatoe paste, 20 trousers.
He added that other items are 33 shirts, 2 cartons of noddles, wrappers, 10 linen and 3 cartoons of terra soya oil.
Ciroma, who explained that the suspects will soon be charged to court after necessary investigations, however appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and calm.
He further disclosed that the command has deployed tactical strategies, in compliance with the directive of the inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu on the mobilization of all police operational assets to avert destruction of public and private property.
